NEW DELHI: Inculcating the spirit of nationalism and respect for the armed forces, setting up sainik schools in every district and imposition of Hindi dominated proceedings at the Central Advisory Board of Education meeting on Tuesday. It was the language issue that got many states' education ministers, especially from Tamil Nadu and north-eastern states, engaged.
Criticizing the National Education Policy, Tamil Nadu school education minister K Pandiarajan said there should be no imposition of any language. The debate started after HRD minister Prakash Javadekar, in his inaugural speech, referred to Israel where Hebrew is the teaching medium. Skills development minister Rajiv Pratap Rudy, however, talked of co-existence of English and Hindi.
